Athletic Bilbao Apathy
|
Just received an email from the club stating tickets at £10 adults and £2 kids
Went on line to take a look, it's clear we've sold very few tickets in most sections, can barely give them away.
Not sure what, if anything, it says about the fans view of these pre season fixtures but teams like Athletic Bilbao are not the answer to get bums on seats

I think the club should just admit defeat and not bother with a home pre season fixture.
We used to have these "prestigious" home games at Upton Park as well and the place was pratically empty. The only time a big crowd has been there was for Juventus and that was because people wanted to see our "new home". Most people that do pre season do it more to visit grounds/places that they never usually would rather than the actual game and result.

Plus lots of people who usually go are on holiday (like me). Same as the first PL game.

Have we ever done well in preseason friendlies? I know its not the entire point of them but I can remember many more hidings than victories.

Athletic are quite a good team, always give Barca a good game and often win that fixture at home. I like these kind of games to introduce the squad for the season. Bit a trip from Spain but I usually go to Barca’s. It’s against Arsenal this year, always a party. Not too happy about seeing Arsenal, that’s how it goes.

Yep, good to see the new players and gives them a taste of the stadium & team against decent oppo helping them settle in a bit before the real action begins. Think that's the idea.

Brentford,
You know that old saying " even a broken clock is right twice a day."
Well it's that time again!

I’m going next week, hopefully get a look at Haller. It’s a team l probably will never see us play again, so it ticks that box. I can understand the apathy though.

I have my ticket already. I won't be going to many games, but a cheap game while the weather is good is hard to turn down.

Will probably go but unlike a lot of games during the season (when you don't have a season ticket) you don't have to plan that far in advance.
